Ariana DeBose Instagram – I had the privilege of attending and performing at the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s #HopeRising gala a few nights ago🤍

This organization is raising funds for research & providing vital services to the families and individuals living with this cruel form of disease. For reference, most recently Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Heming Willis came forward and publically shared his diagnosis of FTD, shining light on this subject so many know little about but has profound effects on those affected by it.

A few facts I learned throughout the evening include that FTD is frequently misdiagnosed, symptoms can present in ages 21-80, but most cases are confirmed in ages 45-64. There is no FDA-approved treatment for FTD and the life expectancy is 7-13 years after symptoms present.
