The organization provides social-emotional and mental health help (and much more) to young women affected by the wildfires.
As you all know, the wildfires caused surreal, utter devastation. So many of my friends lost their homes, their businesses, their beloved pets, their kidsā schools, their family heirlooms. Watching all of this affect her community spurred one young Altadena resident to jump into action: 14-year-old Avery Colbert – now the youngest-ever recipient of the #TIME100 Impact Award. āAltadena Girlsāa recovery fund for teenage victims of the Eaton Fireāwas born out of a group chat between Colvert and her friends. Colvert collected donations of clothing, beauty products, and personal care items, which she distributed for free at a pop-up location. Soon it will have a permanent home in Old Town Pasadena, providing mental health services, homework rooms, dance classes, and a space to connect for a community of young women.ā (Source: @time)
