From Netflix’s Wednesday and the BBC’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder to the forthcoming live-action blockbuster, A Minecraft Movie, American actor Emma Myers is quickly cementing her place as a youthful force on-screen. At only 22-years-old, she has already bypassed many of her contemporaries and for the Spring issue of Glass she opens up about the reality of the industry. “It’s a tough journey,” she admits. “Everybody has their own journey into it”. From the early years as a teenager, she had to adapt and learn that this career wasn’t going to come easy. “Most of this job is auditioning and likewise getting rejected. I think that was the most difficult thing for me to wrap my head around and just learn to let go”. Now, diving headfirst into the Minecraft world as character Natalie she embarks on a magical quest alongside stellar cast Jack Black, Jason Momoa and Jennifer Coolidge. Playing alongside those who inspired her to go into his profession, this project felt like a pinch-me moment. “Honestly, it felt like such an honour because you watch these people when you’re younger, especially working with Jack Black who’s a childhood hero of mine,” she explains. “I just felt so lucky to be there because you learn a lot watching great actors do their thing on set, and no amount of acting class will do as much as just watching somebody and learning that way”. Her gradual rise has left Myers with an impressive resume as she continues to open more doors. Six years into her career, she has reached a point where nerves have shifted to excitement: “I feel like I’ve just grown to be more comfortable with the whole process”.
