The pressure, the expectations, and the way female athletes were often judged more for their appearance than their performance all played a role in my experience.
I’m grateful to see the world finally recognising women in sport for their talent, dedication, and strength. The surf industry has come a long way, and it’s empowering to see athletes being valued for the right reasons.
