Janet Mbugua Instagram – I co-host a daily show, and almost every week, sometimes more, a femicide case makes its way into the news cycle. Sometimes it’s not just one, but several. It’s heartbreaking. It’s terrifying. And it has to stop.
This year alone:
129 women. Killed.
Not by strangers. Not in war.
At home. In schools. At work.
By people who claimed to love them.
This is femicide — and in Kenya, it’s not even recognized as a crime.
From babies to grandmothers, women are being silenced every day.
For saying no. For speaking up. For simply existing.
It doesn’t start with murder. It starts with control, abuse, and silence.
This April, speak up. Demand justice.
