“ I started painting what I ate as a fun way to journal my culinary adventures. However, in the process I gained a whole new appreciation for the different elements of food presentation: shape, shine, texture, color, and even the selection of dishware. As of today, I think I’ve painted over 400 different foods, and I’ve even published a book about food culture in Japan, yet I still learn something new every time I paint a new piece.
Japan is a food illustrator’s paradise, and both my brush and my stomach are happy for it. “
