I’m so happy to say that I’m raising a feminist.
When told to do a persuasive essay last year while other kids chose why they should be able to get a dog or go to Disneyland, Birdie wrote about why women should be paid the same as men.
It’s my job to guide Bird. Not to force my beliefs on her. I answer questions and give her both sides of beliefs to let her form her own opinions and then I respect those beliefs. She feels empowered to have her own opinions and as a mom it’s my job to nurture and grow that. I’m sure at some point we may disagree and I’ll be so proud of her for forming her own opinion and staying steadfast in her beliefs, as she does now.
I love being her mom. I’ve never put more effort into anything in my life.
Birdie is strong, smart, powerful, funny, beyond kind and loving. She stands up for her friends and has no problem speaking her mind. She is everything I didn’t have courage to be until I was an adult. I wish I was half as brave and confident as her | Posted on 10/Nov/2024 04:10:02
