Is hype man a viable career path asking for a friend
Getting to be a part of @sinnersmovie is one of the great honors of my life. There is much to be said of having the privilege of working towards realizing Ryan Coogler’s singular, wild, original, meaningful, fun, scary, sweaty, wholly unique vision—alongside some of the most talented actors in the game (@michaelbjordan, @haileesteinfeld, @lijunli, @omarbensonmiller, @_milescaton_, @jaymelawson, @wunmimosaku to name just a few…) with some of the greatest off screen talents I’ve ever known (@addp I am talking about you) and I hope to do much more of that later. But what made this experience particularly dreamy for me was the chance to be a part of its phenomenal musical landscape. I watched @ludwiggoransson accept his Oscar the year before and thought “holy shit what would it be like to work with that guy?!” A few months later, there I was, with my brothers @peter_dreams and Jack O’Connell, singing in an Irish accent (thank you to my favorite @bethmcguiredialects 😘) with the one and only Serena Goransson encouraging me every step of the way, in one of the most beautiful studios I have ever known. Making movies doesn’t always feel creative or collaborative but this one certainly did. It was a gift to me and now it is a gift to you. I have never been a part of anything like this because I don’t think there is anything like it. Go see it on the big screen if you know what’s good for you. Go listen to the soundtrack wherever you listen to music. (For now, here’s a tiny video of me on my porch in New Orleans where we shot, trying like hell to sing in a new way and play an instrument I don’t play and look good doing it)
