🚨VIGIL SERIES 3 The BBC has announced the return of hit drama Vigil with a brand new mystery. Made by World Productions (Until I Kill You, Showtrial, Line of Duty), part of ITV Studios, for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, the third series is due to start filming in Scotland later this year. Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie return as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre. Their new case takes them to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead. Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and diffuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line. Premiering in 2021, when Silva was enlisted to solve a murder on a navy submarine in Scottish waters, Vigil is one of the UK’s most successful dramas this decade. It was nominated for Best Drama Series at the 2022 BAFTA Television Awards, and went on to win the International Emmy. Suranne Jones says: “I can’t wait to return to Vigil series three, see our brilliant team in Scotland and work with Rose again. I’m sure it will be a thrill of a ride.” Rose Leslie says: “I can’t wait to get stuck into another season of Vigil, to work with the wonderful Suranne Jones again and our brilliant crew. And this time, Kirsten will get to pack her bags and join Amy on what’s set to be Vigil’s most high-stakes mission yet!”
News just in 🚨 ITV has commissioned a six-part heist drama, #Frauds, starring BAFTA and RTS award-winning actresses Suranne Jones (Vigil & Gentleman Jack), and Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who & Broadchurch), as skilled confidence tricksters who’ve been separated by an arduous 10-year prison sentence. Produced by Monumental Television (part of #ITVStudios), in association with TeamAkers Production.

FRAUDS!!! @itv @monumentaltelevision @teamakersprod @amoconnor01 what a way to start the year.. enjoying every minute with #jodiewhittaker Directed by @g_gandini produced by @pattookey1 “Working on Frauds with Anne-Marie and Monumental for the last 2 years has been a wild ride. We took the idea of toxic female friendship and turned it on its head to give the heist genre an emotional heartbeat. I have always wanted to work with Jodie, and now I am. I hope you love Bert and Sam and all they get up to as much as we do.” Suranne x “Suranne and I wanted to take a look at the importance and fierceness of female friendship and to do it using the propulsive heist genre. I am thrilled to be working with Monumental again, and having Jodie joining us alongside Suranne is a dream.” Anne Marie x Suranne and Anne-Marie previously collaborated on the successful Monumental Television drama Maryland, which aired on ITV1 and ITVX Back with the very talented @linekolaasaeter as makeup designer and @lucywilliamscostume on costume design. Alison Owen and Katie Kelly as executive producers for Monumental.

The search is on to find Norfolk’s hidden playwriting talent in a new prize launched by a local theatre, and backed by its famous figurehead. @suranne_jones is the president at SLT which is leading the quest for amateur dramatists, who will be given the challenge of writing a short one-hour play with a coastal theme. She, and her film and TV writer and producer husband Laurence Akers, will host a special event at theatre in August where the two winning entries will be read by professional actors to a live audience. Suranne said: “There’s talent everywhere and The Coastlife Sheringham Little Theatre Playwriting Prize is a real opportunity for budding writers, at any stage of their lives, to get their stories out to a wider audience. “We’ve spoken before about how important rural theatre is, that’s why we wanted to get involved with the Little Theatre in the first place. I wouldn’t be where I am without places like this and that’s why it’s essential to get as many people involved as we can – and that starts with the writers.” Laurence added: “I think when people say ‘rural theatre’ there’s a misconception that it’s all am-dram, tights and Shakespeare but the level of professionalism we’ve witnessed at SLT alone, easily matches that of the West End. The opportunities it gives young people are fantastic and that’s not just acting, it’s lighting, sound, set building, directing, marketing – it’s a real creative hub.” @teamakersprod Full details of how to enter and a list of all the terms and conditions can be found on our website. #sheringhamlittletheatre #sheringham #theatre #surannejones #teamakers #writers #playwriting #competition

New Year’s Eve @sheringhamlittletheatre panto. What a gorgeous way to end the year in our beautiful little theatre. Thanks to the brilliant and talented cast of Robin Hood for a fun afternoon . 🎉🎉
A new competition to find budding playwrights in Norfolk is set to launch on April 7 – with actor Suranne Jones playing a key role. The search for amateur writing talent is being run by Sheringham Little Theatre, where Suranne is president of the charity-run community arts venue. She and her husband Laurence Akers will host a special event on 10th August to showcase and discuss the two winning entries, which will be read to a live audience by professional actors. Entrants are being asked to create a one-act play on a theme of coastal life, lasting 60 minutes, and with no more than six characters. Entrants must be amateurs, living in Norfolk and aged 16 or over. Entries open on April 7 and close on July 1. Suranne, best known for her roles in Vigil, Dr Foster and Gentleman Jack says the competiton, which is her idea to help raise funds and profile for the theatre, is a “real opportunity for budding writers, at any stage of their lives, to get their stories out to a wider audience.” She added: “everyone always feels like they have at least one story to tell and this is really their chance.” And Laurence said: “We’re a country surrounded by water. So everyone will have a story about the coast. Just write about what you know, use people you’ve met along the way for character inspiration and don’t be afraid to use your own experiences .” Theatre director Debbie Thompson said: “This is a great opportunity to find the budding Alan Bennetts, Alan Ayckbourns and Willy Russells hidden in our midst. Since we first announced the project there has been a lot of interest – so, now the competition is launching, we cannot wait to receive a wave of great plays.” The Coastlife Sheringham Little Theatre Playwriting Prize is being supported by Suranne and Laurence through their production company TeamAkers, which is also a patron of the theatre. Initial entries will be whittled down to a shortlist of five before the final two are chosen by a panel of judges drawn from a playwright, director, theatre worker, actor and regular playgoer. A full list of terms and conditions can be found @sheringhamlittletheatre website Good luck!
