I am sure all your Mums are the bestest to you hence my use of ‘us’ to acknowledge that.
Mum, honestly you are my rock, my bff best friend, confidant and go to person and as most Mums, you are also the one I perhaps take most of my frustration out on, if ever upset, and for that and so much I am grateful and I apologise. As much as you always so graciously understand and as a Mum now I face this from our kids too, I am truly appreciative.
The strongest, most adventurous and selfless person I know. So independent, practical, intelligent and filled with love. The Bestest Gaaga, aka Naani Granny to our kids.
Mum is English and came to India over 55 years ago overland, with a group of friends in Land Rovers, a story she has written and my sister had published, A 100 Days of Overland Travel. Full of adventure then, in between and now too. Farming and walking in her hills with our beautiful dogs is her joy as are her grandkids. Mum and Dad fell in love, married and she has lived here ever since. Going back to England to visit family but this is home. Grateful to live in the same building something that reassured Daddy when he was passing on. Mum and Dad’s love story is a movie waiting for us to make. Her story is. Their story. One day, we will. Mum is not on any social media and is fiercely private and self contained. Love of art, the museum, brilliant cook, so many lectures, keep her mind ticking and sharp. I have never known mum to complain, even when widowed way too young.
Too much to say about Mamma but I won’t ramble on. You all have mums I am sure you love, so just a reminder to say We Love You Mum. As as I mentioned we laugh, we fight, we love, but the bond of mum and children is so so special as is with kids and Dads too of course but that post for Daddy’s birthday haaha.
