The Great Stupa was built by Ashoka in the third century BC.
The great Stupa was destroyed by the king of the Shunga Dynasty, , in the 2nd Century BC, but later his son Agnimitra reconstructed it.
It’s been 200 years that this stupa has been rediscovered so 200 Rupees note has picture of this world heritage
