Wunmi Mosaku Instagram – On today’s Blood Moon, a phenomenon that occurs during a total lunar eclipse, the moon takes on a deep red hue—symbolizing transformation, change, and renewal in many cultures. It’s a fitting backdrop for BAFTA winner Wunmi Mosaku, who undergoes a transformation of her own in @sinnersmovie, in theaters April 18, 2025.
With roles in ‘Lovecraft Country’ and ‘Loki,’ the Nigerian-born, UK-raised actress was drawn back to the spirituality of Yoruba Ifa and Hoodoo while preparing for her role as Annie, a Hoodoo spiritual guide.
“I took a lot of tours and spent a lot of time in the city soaking it up. Even the architecture in New Orleans has a direct correlation to West Africa. You see the Adinkra symbols from Ghana in the ironwork around New Orleans. Doing that research really opened up a lot of connections for me back to the Motherland.”
