Marylou Mayniel Instagram – When @oklou_ uploaded her first mixtape to SoundCloud 11 years ago, the French musician — real name Marylou Mayniel — was, like many of her peers, just throwing ideas into the void. “I was starting to be part of a community of people doing the same thing, just uploading drafts, and it didn’t have to be finished or professional,” she says.
Fast forward to this past February, and the electro-pop artist’s debut studio album ‘Choke Enough’ — a project that took her two and a half years to complete — finally arrived to massive critical acclaim.
With her first child due in June, we arranged a meeting of the minds between Oklou and one of her earliest inspirations, @fkatwigs, for an intimate conversation about her musical ascension and the pivotal moment she’s in, both as an artist and a soon-to-be mother.
