1. Explore the Sassi di Matera – the ancient cave dwellings that make Matera look like a movie set (literally — James Bond’s No Time to Die was filmed here!).
2. Wander aimlessly – get lost in the honey-colored alleyways, archways, and hidden staircases. Every turn feels like a postcard.
3. Catch the view from Belvedere di Murgia Timone – for THAT panoramic shot of the old city sprawling over the cliffs.
4. Visit Matera Cathedral – simple from outside but stunning inside, it towers over the Sassi.
5. Support local artisans – we met passionate craftsmen selling ceramics and handmade souvenirs in tiny corner stalls.
6. Stay until golden hour – when the whole city lights up in a warm, magical glow.
Matera feels like stepping into another era — yet somehow, time slows down in the best way possible when you’re with the right person.
