The Geometry of Ordinary Lives is a solo exhibition by Prasanta Sahu (@prasantasahu24), tracing his decade-long exploration of how art, research, and lived experience intersect. Rooted in rural and suburban life, the show reflects his interdisciplinary practice, which draws from traditional knowledge, pre-industrial crafts, and inherited wisdom.
Sahu focuses on the transmission of generational knowledge, treating blacksmiths’, carpenters’, and potters’ workshops as living archives of techniques and philosophies. Through diagrams, object casting, interviews, and audio recordings, he documents how these practices endure despite modern pressures, using numerical and visual data as tools to map this continuity.
Influenced by his engineering background and early work in cartography, Sahu’s art relies on spatial logic and geometry to frame connections between craft, oral tradition, and embodied knowledge. Yet his work is equally shaped by poetic sensibility — finding lyricism in acts of making, memory, and the intangible logic of tradition.
Blending cartography, archival methods, and poetic insight, The Geometry of Ordinary Lives offers a powerful visual meditation on the survival and transformation of ancestral knowledge in a rapidly changing world.
