Today we said farewell to Smash. It’s been an honor to take this version for a spin. I truly had the time of my life doing this. Putting it up was as hard as we make it look for Bombshell. But once it opened, I felt like I could do it forever. Passing the ball back and forth with my absolute hall-of-fame talented cast brought me immense joy that I wish I could keep feeling. But that’s not how it works. It’s not how it ever would have worked. In the final scene of our show, our beleaguered characters gather at the bar, surveying the ruins of a show gone awry. People has asked me how it’s going to feel doing that scene on our closing night. But the truth is, it’s my favorite part to do and that was even more true tonight. Because for all the discourse around the “reality” of Smash over the years, this is the truest thing we could show to people. Theater is temporary. The ephemera is what makes it special. It’s risky and we take that leap with a willing audience every night. If we wanted safe we wouldn’t be here. I’ve watched our ensemble immediately throw themselves into auditions, some already onto the next job. We toasted and laughed and cried and picked ourselves up with wit and class. Cuz that’s what we do. And it’s an honor to show people the that what we do onstage every night is just a fraction of what it really means to commit your life to this. Thank you Smash for scoring the last 13 years of my life. See you when they make the movie of the musical of the tv show about a musical Here’s a trip through Smash memory lane: 1. A happy girl bowing 2. Early days of Smash with some of my best friends (thank you @sirwestaytay and Hipstamatic 😂) 3. The way we all watched in rehearsal when @bellacoppola would sing 4. @johnbehlmann being a dutiful “husband” 5. The prettiest co-stars ever 6. When I first got the call that I was joining the the series. July 4 2012, I woke up to 7 missed calls from my agents. I’m playing it cool on the phone but life changing to say the least 7. Getting ready for today’s show after I sold everything in my room 8. What it would sound like if I were actually playing Second Hand Baby Grand 🤫

I’ve had a lot of full circle moments in my life. But to say this is a circle would not be accurate. This is like an alternate universe on another plane operating along congruent timelines. A better universe where Kyle and Ana are best friends and live together (operative word “live”). Jimmy is married with a child and starring on Broadway. All of our loved ones are still dreaming, pursuing, celebrating. And Smash lives with another group of people who will care for it like those who came before. A supremely magical night in our parallel universe that I’ll never forget. 📸 as always in any universe: @jennyandersonphoto

Designing @michaelcerveris’s dressing room for @tammyfayebway meant creating something earthy, tonal, and full of intention. This was the first dressing room designed post-renovation at the Palace—so we were working with a blank canvas in the truest sense: pristine drywall, zero nails allowed, and no room for error. Every piece had to be peel-and-stick, command-stripped, or gently leaned into place. The challenge? Make it feel intentional, grounded, and lived-in anyway. Proof that temporary doesn’t have to mean forgettable. #YourDressingRoom #DesignWithinLimits #RenderingToReality #BroadwayDesign #CuratedByKR
It’s @chateekathee’s birthday today!!! And she’s spending it her favorite way: adventuring with her pack (Perry too!). So grateful for a mother who hits the road at a moments notice and is always living her life as full as she can. Love you mama!
