✊🏼 international women’s day my experience as a woman is complex, beautiful, delicate. it has been so so blessed. it has also – like any existence – been painful. often times silently. this month is #endometriosisawarenessmonth🎗. having endo is a very defining part of my personal experience being a woman. continued effort to spread awareness for this condition has become integral to my purpose – it is severely underfunded & misunderstood. women are life-bearing creatures (!!!) and SO many of us are struggling with reproductive health issues. nearly every single woman I know has dealt with some kind of reproductive health issue that they have not been given appropriate care or straightforward answers for. through this I’ve further learned the importance of community and support from other women. there is nothing more powerful than women coming together to support one another. it is our right to feel safe. to receive the healthcare we need. to make informed decisions about our own bodies. to be paid equally. to discover ourselves without judgement or discrimination. to safely explore our sexuality without being labeled as anything. to wear what we want. to express ourselves. to walk down the street without being afraid. to not experience sexism or misogyny. and that is not the reality of our world today. I will continue to speak on these things and amplify other voices in the ongoing fight for what should already be ours. so to all the girls ! mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, aunts, grandmothers, friends, girlfriends, trans women, domestic violence survivors, victims of sex trafficking, survivors of sexual assault. to all the women who have had enough of the systemic issues that impact women’s rights. to all the women using their voices and fighting for change. to all the women. we recognize and celebrate you today 🤲🏼 and i’m proud to stand with you. #internationalwomensday #endometriosis #endoawareness #womensrights #womensrightsarehumanrights 📸 @jordanowen.nyc
