Haley Webb Instagram – Via @wawog_now Palestinians have sounded the alarm for months over the Israeli-engineered famine starving Gaza’s residents. The U.S.-Israeli zionist alliance is marching ahead with its plan to exterminate Palestinians in Gaza through violent and systematic starvation. Anas Al-Sharif reports, “85% of Gaza’s population have entered the “fifth stage” of malnutrition — the most critical and dangerous phase, which is often irreversible even if food becomes available in the future.”
The international community has watched on as aid distribution has been hijacked by American mercenaries and IOF soldiers who shoot at aid seekers on the brink of starvation. Yesterday alone, 133 Palestinians were martyred including 3 children due to malnutrition and 38 aid seekers. Today, the Ministry of Health reported that 18 Palestinians have died of hunger in the past 24 hours, and another 73 people massacred after occupation forces indiscriminately fired “warning shots” into a crowd making their way towards the distribution sites run by the criminal Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation. Gaza is not experiencing a humanitarian crisis. Rather, the U.S. and Israel are deliberately organizing the starvation of 2 million residents who’ve survived 21 months of missile attacks, sniper drones and endless bombs that have leveled much of the region to rubble.
Testimonies from Palestinians on the ground should be more than sufficient for the world to act, and yet the international community waits for a flawed system to officially recognize the crisis as “famine.” Gaza is “at risk of famine,” says the IPC Global Famine Review Committee, whose food insecurity scale measures famine in death, not in lived experience. These legal designations come too late. The time to act is now.
Between the astronomical prices for scarce supplies in the besieged region and the deadly risk of collecting food at U.S.-Israeli aid sites, it is our duty to materially support efforts of Palestinians who keep each other alive.
