I guess the world thrives on controversy than art, because not only his art sells now, he is a commercial success, I mean people who don’t even know an inch of him are buying and selling his art, using insta filters to turn there regular picture into a Van Gogh , there are theatres to experience his famous paintings, paintings he claimed to have made to calm his ill nerves, “ill for the world” because no one truly knows what normal is.
The businessmen & women know how to sell a story that makes the audience so guilty that they over compensate, exactly what you do to a Vincent Van Gogh . Don’t do that, don’t just buy the remains of someone who’s not there, maybe there’s an artist next door, alive waiting for you to buy that painting, buy a ticket to a play, a show, a movie, a few days away from cutting an ear or shooting a dream, look around , find the van gough.
I went to his museum in Amsterdam right before my show & while you stand in an rooms that celebrate an artist, you want to be such a room, but the whole time I was performing, I realised this is not how I want to be, I want to see the rooms that cheer for me, with me, I am going to make sure that my art reaches your doors even if I have to carry it myself and knock every door, the size of the room shall never matter, what shall matter is the weight of the words, the poem.
