Dafne Keen Instagram – During my time in Puerto Rico I had the privilege of visiting the Juvenile Facility in Villalba, as well as Escuela con Causa, and I left deeply inspired.
Meeting these young men and women, so full of talent, resilience, and heart was a reminder of the possibility within each of them when given the chance. We shared stories, played soccer and basketball, listened to their music in the mobile recording studio that @fundacion.rimas provided them with, and witnessed firsthand the creativity and potential they carry and how much having a creative outlet and a support system like the one they’re providing can be life changing.
Their honesty and vulnerability in sharing what they need when they return home was so moving. Mentors who care, safe housing, access to education and jobs, therapy, and healing. Their voices highlighted not only their challenges, but also their incredible future potential when supported with love and opportunity.
I am so grateful to @fundacion.rimas , @scottbudnick1 , and @elsamariecollins for making this visit possible, and to the Puerto Rico Department of Corrections and Villalba facility for welcoming us so openly and @carasconcausa for showing us the beautiful work they’re doing.
Most of all, thank you to the young people we met for trusting us with your stories, your dreams, and your music. You reminded me that transformation is possible when people are seen, supported, and given the opportunity to.
