Next up: mass following and unfollowing – 5/10 cringe. Main reason? Those people can now message you. And you don’t want messages from everyone… right? Thought so.
An influencer once told me to always reply to fans, take advice, build community. That worked for them. My DMs? Unhinged.
Also-following then unfollowing is WEIRD. Especially when big creators do it like we won’t notice. You’re not famous enough for that. You’re just being an a$$hOle.
Fishing for followers: 5/10 to 10/10 cringe. One of these is actually not bad.
🎣5/10 – l used to find girls who looked like me, did what l did, or used similar hashtags. I’d like 3 posts, drop a quick comment with a cute emoji or phrase, maybe like some stories. If you’ve got time, go for it.
🎣7/10 – Commenting JUST to fish. You’ve seen it. l’ve done it a little. Still? Cringe. Stop. I block these people.
If I see a random account liking my comments or replies? Blocked. That’s not building community, babe.
Do better.
🎣10/10 – cringe on X… DO NOT put your photos, media, links, or promotion of any kind under another creator’s post unless they are specifically inviting or asking for it.
I noticed that there were accounts that were doing this in what I thought at the time was a kind of creative way. So I decided to make some response GIFs for a couple of friends/mutuals posts… and THANK GOODNESS they called me IN and not OUT bc ya girl was clueless
I fr thought I was so cute and creative. Alas. Sometimes we are cringe.
