Jokate Mwegelo Instagram – Last March, during the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, I had the honour of not only contributing my voice on pressing global issues, but also holding meaningful bilateral meetings with Permanent Representatives from countries including Greece, Chile, Japan, Norway, the Philippines, Spain, and many others.
A truly inspiring highlight was engaging with H.E. Verónica Michelle Bachelet @michellebacheletpdta — the first woman to serve as President of Chile, the first to be re-elected since 1932, the founding Executive Director of @unwomen, and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. She now serves as Vice President of @club_de_madrid. A trailblazer in every sense — and a deep personal inspiration 🥰
It was also a privilege to witness a historic moment: H.E. Michelle Bachelet publicly express her intent to run for the position of United Nations Secretary-General. This powerful announcement was made during a panel moderated by the legendary @camanpour, and featured an incredible line-up of global changemakers — including former U.S. Secretary of State @hillaryclinton, former President of Liberia @ellen.johnson.sirleaf, and Madam @susanamalcorra, former Foreign Minister of Argentina and current President of @gwlvoices.
