Traveling to the palace of His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), @ooniofifekingdom the 51st Ooni of Ife, was more than a visit, it was a powerful moment of clarity, perspective, and purpose. Alongside an inspiring delegation of women including Ms. Beatrice Eyong @eyongbeatrice, UN Women Country Rep for Nigeria & ECOWAS @unwomenng, the amazing Hansatu Adegbite @hansatu_adegbite, politics mama Barr. Ebere Ifendu @ebere_ifendu , Irene Awunah-Ikyegh (President, NILOWV) @agberbija_ , and Oluoma Chima Ali. We sought His Majesty’s support for the Reserved Seats Bill. His resounding endorsement of women’s leadership and nation-building was both affirming and energizing, a testament to the power of tradition meeting progress….(culled from Hansatu Adehbite) #OoniofIfe #ReservedSeatsBill #WomenInLeadership #NigerianWomen #GenderEquity #UNWomen Picture Credit : @unwomenng
“A Ladder of Bones” is a searing, unforgettable novel that captures the brutal legacy of anti-Blackness spanning colonialism, segregation, imperialism, and systemic racism across continents and generations. In vivid, Afro-Diasporic language, Dr. Bunmi Oyinsan weaves the powerful journeys of Black Atlantic characters struggling against civil war, economic hardship, police brutality, and forced migration. From Sierra Leone to “Ile Ifa,” Halifax to Jamaica, Toronto to the U.S., these stories echo a shared reality: justice is elusive, love is rare, and survival is resistance. In a world riddled with barriers, broken systems, and smug charity, A Ladder of Bones reads like something Fanon might have written harrowing, poetic, and heartbreakingly true. Join us for an illuminating discussion themed: ẸNÍLỌLÓBỌ̀ a conversation centered on Dr. Bunmi Oyinsan’s new novel “A Ladder of Bones” Venue: J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Onikan, Lagos Date: Sunday, August 17th, 2025 Time: 5 PM WAT | 12:00 EST | 09:00 PDT Register: [email protected] Let us explore how stories become tools of resistance, memory, and healing. #ALadderOfBones #PanAfricanVoices
