Sanna Marin Instagram – Last week I got to participate to the fourth annual Global Women Leaders Summit in Bellagio that convened women political leaders from diverse backgrounds to advance gender equality, climate action, and democratic governance—and to catalyze cross-generational action on today’s most urgent global challenges. Organized by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, and chaired by Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Summit aims to strengthen existing networks, forge new alliances, and build lasting relationships to amplify the collective influence of women leaders around the world.
As we mark the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, progress on gender equality is not just stalling—it’s under attack. Around the world, women’s rights are facing growing backlash, from democratic backsliding and online abuse to rising gender-based violence and exclusion from decision-making. In conflict zones like Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, and Myanmar, the health, safety, and rights of women and girls are increasingly at risk. Decades of hard-won gains are being rapidly undone.
