Ximena Duque Instagram – I want to start this message by asking you to keep an open mind. Don’t take a stand right away, just take it into consideration.
There is absolutely no reason why any parent or child should live in fear when it comes to going to school. School should always be the safest place in our communities.
This problem has a solution. Some will say, “We don’t want metal detectors or security in schools, it will scare the kids.” But what’s more frightening? Seeing a friendly, protective presence each day… or running drills that train children to prepare for tragedy?
I believe prevention is far better than preparation. Imagine having approachable, trusted military personnel who interact with students daily, who become part of the fabric of the school community, and who ensure children never have to question their safety.
Our kids deserve peace of mind. Parents deserve reassurance. And America deserves schools where safety is a given, not a gamble.
