•| O R G I A S T I C |• 🕊️ Brian, @orgiastic_ , my first cousin and the first of our cousin tribe to transition, fought a fierce, fast, and ferocious fight with leukemia that culminated with the devastating news of his passing. This riveting reality shifted the family floor, it felt like the ground fell out from beneath us. For hours after, days later, it felt so surreal…until it didn’t. Brian was a gentle soul with a giant legacy. He emptied his generous heart into the lives of those who had the pleasure of experiencing him. Brian loved to cook and would easily make a Thanksgiving worthy dinner for me on a regular Tuesday when I visited their home. He equally fed his soul through his art and found deep contentment in the doing, rarely sharing or showing the work beyond his studio. I was stunned and awed to learn that I made the cut as one of his muses. I am grateful I will now get to hold a tangible part of his heart in his art. His joy in life itself was palpable and evidenced in a signature smile that’d been etched into his notable features since he was a child. His full cheeks held the happiness from his heart. We gathered in his honor to celebrate his life, his love, his joy and to glean sacred wisdom from his artful ability to make meaningful impact by mastering the art of simplicity. The atmosphere was filled with his spirit, as we witnessed Brian, an avid traveler, take his final trip to the heavens. I take solace believing that God received him with tremendous warmth and gladness, pleased with the manner in which Brian lived fully, helped generously, loved selflessly and fulfilled the purpose for his life.
