Amy Acker Instagram – Every Tuesday I am celebrating actors I love!
Today I am spotlighting Amy Acker, who is the epitome of professionalism, humanity and joy. I have been lucky to cast Amy multiple times, in roles ranging from 1-off guest stars to series regulars, and she delights me every time. Whether tackling an action-packed fight sequence, Shakespeare’s iambic pentameter or a small-town romance, she draws attention (in a good way). Amy understands that you need to get out and experience life away from work too. An avid traveler, baker and soon-to-be an empty-nester, Amy soaks in as much time with her family as she can.
I asked Amy a few questions and here is what she had to say:
WHAT IS A MEMORABLE AUDITION STORY YOU HAVE?
In the 5th season of ANGEL, my character turned into a blue demon goddess (as you do.) We knew that the show was cancelled before we wrapped the season, so I had started going out on auditions for other things. I found out that I got a callback for a role on ALIAS, but I was going to be filming the only day they were seeing people. I had a break in my work day just long enough to drive from Paramount, where we shot ANGEL, to Disney for the audition, but not long enough to take off my blue make up and get it back on for the next scene. I remember driving across town still in full makeup and costume getting very strange looks from other drivers, hoping I didn’t get into an accident, but more than anything just feeling so lucky that I get to do this for a living. Being blue ended up being a great icebreaker, and I got to play a really fun part on ALIAS.
WHAT GOAL DO YOU STILL WANT TO ACHIEVE?
The past couple of years I’ve actively been seeking opportunities to collaborate with people I love. I am so excited to see where that leads. Beginning with making one of those projects this year! More than anything, my goal is to surround myself with people I love and admire, while finding every way I can to continue creating characters and telling stories.
