A Letter from Me I’m just a ‘Lehenga’ girl living in a ‘jean’ world, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of painting on lehengas—bringing together art, clothes, and emotion onto one canvas. Clothes, for me, are self-expression. They are detail, nuance, a way of telling stories. And I’ve always believed that clothes should be fun, uplifting, and meaningful. When my best friend Niharika’s wedding came along, I wanted to create something different—something that reflected not just me, but also the kind of brides we work with. That’s how the Golden Earth Lehenga was born. It carried so much of what I love: the playfulness of zebras (to me, they’ve always symbolized joy and togetherness), the lushness of banana leaves, the quiet majesty of giraffes, and the richness of wildlife. A flowing stream wound its way through the canvas, a reminder of movement, life, and continuity. All of it tied together with the elegance of ivory tones, pearl and beadwork, and above all, the story of the earth turning gold. It felt so right for the celebration, and in that moment I realized—if I don’t wear my own creations, who else will? What made this lehenga even more special was the process. My mom has always been my co-creator. Sometimes she has the vision, sometimes I do, but it’s in the relentless back-and-forth between us that the magic happens. This lehenga is as much hers as it is mine: a merging of instincts, late nights, and our love for detail. Later, we reimagined it with our signature lotus blouse and a heavier dupatta, but the heart of this lehenga has always been the hand-painting. Over weeks, a circle of artists poured themselves into it—hundreds of brushstrokes layered with patience and care, until the fabric itself began to breathe with story. And that’s the part I treasure most: the possibility it opened up. That one day, a bride can walk into World of Anush and say, “Paint my story for me.” And we can. With love, Anandita
