Born in London to an Iranian mother and a British father, Catherine’s early years were shaped by a multicultural upbringing. She moved to Los Angeles as a child and spent much of her time creating and active in sports—whether through drawing, skateboarding, or playing football.
At 18, she enrolled at UCLA to study biomedical engineering, but something felt off.
She hated it.
That’s when an unexpected acting class changed her trajectory.
At the time, Catherine was painfully shy. But she believed in doing things that scared her—so she signed up for a class at UCLA to push past her fears.
She fell in love with acting.
But breaking into Hollywood? That was a different challenge.
At 21, Catherine was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The wake-up call pushed her to fully commit to acting. She spent years taking voice lessons, refining her craft, and auditioning relentlessly.
By 1996, she was cast as Lt. Sarah ‘Mac’ MacKenzie in JAG, a role that made her a household name.
By 2008, she took on the lead role in The Good Witch, a series that would run for over a decade.
But Catherine’s success extends beyond the screen.
She built two businesses from the ground up: Everliving Beauty @everliving.beauty a non-toxic skincare brand rooted in her own health journey and Catherine Bell Jewelry @catherinebelljewelry a collection inspired by her heritage, vintage artistry, and nature.
As she puts it: “Continue to improve your craft and make yourself better and more ready so that when the opportunity comes along, you’re ready.”
My favorite part about her journey is that it’s one of reinvention, persistence and having the courage to go after what is important to you.
