Dania Ramirez Instagram – I just learned about the passing of Diane Martel, and my heart is heavy. Diane was one of the very few who saw something in me early on, hiring me on a music video before I even realized that acting might become my life’s path. I will always be grateful that she believed in me, for the laughs we shared, for the late nights and the creative chaos, and for all the moments that shaped who I’ve become.
Diane was a visionary. From her beginnings in New York’s hip-hop and street-dance world, through her choreography, she moved fluidly into directing. She made music videos that didn’t just accompany songs, but shaped how those songs were seen.
Her willingness to take risks will forever be an inspiration to me. Her willingness to stretch boundaries, provoke thought, blend raw energy with cinematic images made so much of her work unforgettable. She was bold, uncompromising, funny, deeply artistic.
A part of me feels pissed off at cancer for taking another great one. Because I understand that our souls are here to evolve and so it must be as it is. I accept the journey, and I feel so fortunate that she crossed my path, that she gave me those chances when I was still finding my footing. I’ll always carry the memory of being part of something with her. I will always cherish the excitement, the hope, and the joy of creating. Diane, you will be deeply missed. But your legacy lives on in every frame you directed, in every artist you inspired, and in every one of us who had the honor to work with you.
Rest easy, Diane. You’ve left a mark that time can’t erase. | Posted on 20/Sep/2025 02:22:35
