Haifa Rahim Instagram – Chronicle of the Years of Embers 1975 –
This is Hamina’s most celebrated work and a landmark in Algerian and global cinema. It won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1975, making it the first and still one of the very few African or Arab films to achieve this honor. The film traces the roots of the Algerian War of Independence through the life of a peasant, symbolizing the awakening of national consciousness.
He passed away yesterday RIP 1934-2025 in Algiers at 95 yers old.
