We are days away before the #chiefofwar season finale!💥 Here’s a way too long clip I made last year to show my aloha to our kumu from @awaiauluinc ❤️ In August last year, we came back for some reshoots and I decided to record my ’ōlelo Hawai’i language sessions on my new camera; I think to ease my anxiety… (20 days!) but also to capture the time spent with my amazing coaches/kumu. They truly are the pillars of show, and I can’t express enough the gratitude for the hours & hours of their time with our cast, who smashed it out of the park. SO much work was required to get it to what you see on camera. These coaches had never walked on to a film set before this show and work in spaces that revitalises ‘ōlelo Hawai’i and the access of Hawaiian history. It was a huge feat but the result of having ‘ōlelo Hawai’i on a world stage like this for the first time is beyond beautiful. As someone who didn’t know the language before, I was riddled with fear, but the leo ended up being my favourite part of this job because of your love for the culture. Mahalo nui for putting up with my level of crazy xx To my personal coach @thepuamohalas you already know. This journey and role is ours, your mentorship and friendship has been the best gift.
