Marcia Cross Instagram – Children around the world deserve our love and protection. We must put them first. For #WorldChildrensDay, we continue to call on Congress, the Biden Administration, and global leaders to prioritize our shared humanity and end the supply of weapons being used to destroy these precious young lives.
Of the 1200 Israelis killed during the Hamas-led attack on 10/7, at least 38 were children, and at least two child hostages still remain in Gaza. In the months following, over 16,900 Palestinian children, out of at least 43,000 Palestinians, have been killed in Israeli attacks, including dozens of months-old infants. Over 19,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned in Gaza, and over 700,000 children have been forcibly displaced from their homes and shelters — many multiple times. Over 200 children in Lebanon, out of at least 3,000 people, have been killed, and over 1,100 injured, by Israeli attacks. The violence must stop.
“The Gaza Strip is the most dangerous place in the world to be a child. And day after day, that brutal reality is reinforced.” — James Elder (@james_unicef), @unicef Global Spokesperson, December 2023
We stand together for a permanent ceasefire, full hostage release, delivery of lifesaving aid, and a future rooted in peace, justice, dignity and freedom for all children.
