Later my grandparents got up out of their chairs and somehow both fell onto the concrete. We all held our breaths – who broke what?? We waited for a cry of pain from either of them – none came. After a perfectly timed beat, still lying facedown entangled with Papi, Mamie says: “On tombe encore en amour!” (We’re still falling in love!).
