An impromptu chat with my friend and Middle East journalist @matthewcassel to chat about his latest report for @guardian about how Israelis regard the genocide in Gaza. He’s report indicates they very much are not seeing what many of us here are seeing, and choose not to. And that most resistance to the war isn’t about the horrific crimes being committed against Palestinians, but is solely about securing Israeli hostages. Mathew is sitting outside a toilet at an airport in Athens. I’m in Paris living out of somebody’s study. As an FYI Mathew and I met a few years ago when he picked me up on his motorbike and took me to a crazy restaurant in an alleyway on the outskirts of Athens. We were talking these kinds of issues back then. What a mad world🌏
