Alysia Reiner Instagram – Yesterday we marched and we sang. In the largest day of US demonstrations in history, the @resistancerevivalchorus joined Queens NY to demand No Kings… and more. We sang and chanted in solidarity with each other, with our fellow marchers, with Queens, and we spoke the words of Assata Shakur. We also chanted “I am anti-fascist” in unison with the crowds — in case there was any doubt – standing against fascism (ahem, antifa = anti-fascist) is perhaps the most American thing one can do to stand for our constitution and our democracy, however flawed. Protests are not going to fix anything by themselves, but they are far more than performative parades. And in this moment we need it all. Showing up in the streets is just one way to fight back.
As @mspackyetti “threaded” (???) yesterday, “No Kings Day is a demonstration and a march. It’s not a protest, or a strike, or a walkout, or an uprising.
And that’s not only perfectly ok, that’s actually *one way* movements get built:
The March on Washington was one. So was the Million Man March. So was the March for Our Lives. Organized.
Permitted. W a start & end time.
Public demonstrations often are an entry point for new folks to get active ongoing, and many folks behind No Kings are literal experts at that.”
She says a lot more, in smarter ways than me. Highly recommend following her.
Anyway, here are a few pix from Queens! 10.18.25 📸 = me.
