In a time when our country feels so divided, it’s easy to let anger harden our hearts. But anger only fuels the cycle of destruction.
The message behind my son’s @criticaluprising.1 Critical Uprising shirt — “love the haters” — feels more important now than ever.
Recently, we witnessed unimaginable tragedy with the assassination of Charlie Kirk. At his memorial, his wife Erika Kirk did something extraordinary: she forgave the very man who took her husband’s life. Citing the scripture, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34).
That kind of forgiveness is not weakness. It is the most radical act of strength. Because forgiveness breaks the cycle. Forgiveness heals. Forgiveness creates space for love to triumph over hate.
Division only creates chaos and destruction. Love is the only answer that builds.
We can disagree without violence. We can hold convictions without cruelty. We can stand strong in our beliefs while remembering that peace is the highest form of victory.
We don’t have to agree w everything someone says or believes. We can also find the things we can agree on no matter what “party” you’re in. I personally don’t want to be in any of these “parties “- they all act hypocritical- however I can listen to ideas and points of view from each one and agree and disagree with parts without labeling myself or going in with an all or nothing attitude.
🕊️ Let us rise above the noise, forgive even when it hurts, and choose love — especially for those who would call themselves our enemies. Because in the end, love is the uprising this world needs.
