Rehearsals for Safe Space, a new play by Jamie Bogyo and directed by Roy Alexander Weise. It’s tracks the friendship between roommates and acapella enthusiasts Isaiah (@kingsley_jnr) and Connor (@jamiebogyo), as they both try to get into the Whiffenpoofs – the world’s oldest acapella group (the name is real, I swear). Lo and behold, their friendship is tested when university politics reach boiling point over the college’s name and the statue in its courtyard of a major proponent of slavery, John C Calhoun. Thrown into this mix are: the president of the African American society and Isaiah’s old orientation buddy Omar Allen-Young (@ivanoyik); Connor’s girlfriend Annabelle who’s hoping to get elected as head of the feminist society (myself); and her best friend, the first year scholarship student Stacy Coleman (@bolaakejuu) – underestimate them at your peril. This play will have you shrieking with laughter and squirming with discomfort. It’s my first time on the British stage (or any professional stage for that matter) and I’m honoured to be debuting with a team and script of this quality. You won’t want to miss this. It runs from 11th October to 8 November at Chichester Festival Theatre. Link for tickets in bio 💥

Recently at a European Broadcasting Union event held at @flageystudios in Brussels, discussing The Kollective with producer Femke Wolting, who also produced the fantastic documentary Bellingcat: Truth in a Post-Truth World, and Randa Chahoud @randachahoud, one of our two directors, whose wisdom and steady steering we were very grateful for in tackling the complex characters and global issues at play in this TV show. It was a pleasure to work with them both. The Kollective comes out Tuesday on Hulu. It’ll come out at a later tbc date in Europe, on @francetelevisions @rai_it and @zdf.de, the three broadcasters who coproduced with @world_of_submarine.
