Ok.. I was just after a mad cheering-eachother-on session with a dear friend whom I’m WICKEDLY proud of, over all the crazy stuff we’ve done since meeting as two autistic 11 year olds at school in Australia. We’ve hung onto eachother for dear life ever since.. (even after one of us got booted out of said school.. oops..) followed the heck out of our dreams, worked our arses off, and have always had each other’s backs. 🌈💕✨ Then a bunch of mates FaceTimed me from Nashville, yelling in suspiciously Bostonian accents, waving fun-sized bottles of tequila around to get me back there, because I’m missing everything, especially @brandonrobertyoung , who they’ve been taking care of while I’m away. And it got me thinking on how grateful I am to have the BEST people in my life. Including the gorgeous people I came over here to cheer on in the first place. 💛 ✨ In the same breath, I remembered that not everyone’s lucky enough to have a trusted crew who care.. I didn’t always. Sometimes it takes a minute to know your worth. Sometimes it terrifies people when you figure it out. Your people are the ones who want the best for you, who’re with you for the wonderful, for the devastating, the mundane, and to smash you with memes at 3am – for no reason other than love. 🩷✨ So – I dunno who out there needs to hear it, but just in case no one told you today: You’re awesome. You are beautiful. You are magic. You are wonderful, unique, and loved. Your feelings matter. You are enough. You got this, you badass. Keep going. If you haven’t found your people yet – try to remember that they’re out there in the world right now, waiting to become yours. 💙✨ Tag someone who might need to hear it if you want. Behind the scenes of catching light for the cover of @readcurl with @treasuredluminescence ✨ This session was originally scheduled to be in Nashville, but ended up in the Bowen’s natural habitat; Yuin Country, Australia, running around like eejits. Not much has changed since childhood. Well.. Timothy’s faster than Clare now, is allowed a grown up camera, and she should probably never try to give him a piggy back ever again, but we’re the same kids who’ve always loved eachother for exactly who we are, and encouraged eachother to do the impossible over and over again – from making music, to telling stories onscreen, to surviving cancer, and so much more. Yes it was very cold.. 𝓡𝓔𝓟𝓞𝓢𝓣 ᯓ★ @charlesesten DOWN THE ROAD is the penultimate track on my debut album LOVE AIN’T PRETTY. I wrote it with my friends, @ericpaslay and @dylanaltmanmusic, and from the very beginning, I could tell it was special. Whether I played it acoustically in a small round at @bluebirdcafetn, with an electric guitar and a stomp box on the road, or with a full band behind me at the @opry, it had an energy and a message that always seemed to connect with the crowd. This was never more true than when my cast and tourmates @clarembee, @jonathanjacksonhq, and @sampalladio, joined me and our incredible band led by the great @howlinformydarlin in closing every show of our 2023 reunion tour with what was easily the most rocking and raucus version of this hopeful anthem. Sharing all the vocals with these incredibly talented friends of mine was not only a joy, it was a blessing that let that song flower into the fullest expression of what it was meant to be. You see, if you ever watched the show NASHVILLE, you would know that the most central and recurring theme was that life is hard and love ain’t pretty, but you can’t give up. You have to keep looking for the light. You have to keep on going in order to find and arrive at all the beautiful things that are waiting for you down the road. When it came time for the Deluxe Vinyl version of LOVE AIN’T PRETTY, I knew that this live London performance, this beautiful moment in time, had to be on it. They graciously agreed and so, here it is. Turn it up, sing it loud, and we’ll see you down the road!!
