I sported men’s hats and vests and (even though my eyes were fine) I wore bookish glasses because I thought they made me look more like her. A little more than a decade ago I got to be in a movie called Five Flights Up with her and it was like a dream come true. We hold the memories of the hundreds of Israelis killed in the Hamas-led attack on October 7, and the tens of thousands of Palestinians killed in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, with unbearable grief. Human rights must be for all of us. A lasting peace can only be achieved when all people in Palestine and Israel live in freedom, safety, and equity. The killing and starvation in Gaza must finally end, and so must the oppression the Palestinians have endured for decades. As the possibility of an agreement looms, we will continue, with hope, to demand a permanent ceasefire, release of all hostages, and immediate delivery of aid to civilians in Gaza — the first and necessary steps to a just future we all deserve. #PermanentCeasefireNow #JustPeace

For nearly two years, the world has watched a genocide unfold against the Palestinian people—on top of 77 years of apartheid, abuse, and ethnic cleansing. Now, Israel has crossed yet another line: illegally detaining Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers in international waters, denying them legal representation, and holding them in inhumane conditions. We must act.
