A powerful collaboration between Karma Lakelands, Greener Earth Foundation, and Climate Activist Aakash Ranison, Below2° is an art installation that vividly highlights the urgency of keeping global temperatures below 2°C, in line with the Paris Agreement. 🔥
This thought-provoking installation features a 5-foot globe made from 1000 repurposed golf balls—each hand-painted by schoolchildren, symbolizing the generation that will inherit our planet. The globe is designed to melt at 53°C, the temperature Delhi NCR could reach if global warming surpasses 2°C, causing it to distort and visually represent the planet’s vulnerability under rising temperatures. 🌡️
Surrounding the globe are 14 endangered species from the IUCN RedList, including the Whale Shark, Tiger, Coral Reef, and African Forest Elephant—all endangered or critically endangered due to the consequences of climate change. 🌿
🌏The Urgency is Real 🌏
We’ve already reached the 1.5°C threshold in 2024, and if we exceed 2°C by 2050-2060, the irreversible consequences will be devastating: biodiversity collapse, habitat destruction, species extinction. The installation collapses when we hit 2°C, symbolizing the collapse of ecosystems and our planet’s fragile future.
