Elsie Hewitt Instagram – Last week I underwent robotic excision surgery for Endometriosis,
which is a chronic inflammatory disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grow out of place, thicken and bleed but have no way to exit the body, so the tissue is trapped and inflamed and it’s VERY PAINFUL.
it’s a progressive disease, and I’ve been struggling with symptoms for many years. These past 6 months became so debilitating that I hit a wall. I really have not been functioning properly. It’s taken an immense toll on my mental and physical health and didn’t feel I had any other option than to explore getting this surgery. Trying to figure out where to even begin seeking treatment and a diagnosis was exhausting and disheartening too.
The only way to properly and formally diagnose Endo is through laparoscopic surgery, so that the tissue can be removed and biopsied.
(I basically didn’t even have full confirmation that I had Endo until I woke up from surgery and my doctor told me that they found it spread all over my pelvic organs. They even took out my appendix 🫨)
This isn’t the end all be all & is by no means a cure or a final solution, but hopefully a step in the right direction to provide some relief as well as hopefully preserving my fertility, which is very important to me.

my DMs are open to girlies out there that may be struggling with this and not sure what to do. if my experiences/the things I’ve learned can teach or help people/their loved ones who might be struggling with this, I want that.
