The flotilla is an urgent humanitarian response to Israel’s blockade and starvation of Gaza—and also a reminder that governments have failed in this moment, making this peaceful, humanitarian mission necessary. Flotilla volunteers from around the world — including U.S. veterans, European parliamentarians, journalists, medics and lawyers — are being unlawfully imprisoned for trying to deliver aid to civilians. There are reports of abuse and mistreatment of detainees, a reality imprisoned Palestinians, many without due process, face daily.
Our leaders must act for the safe release of remaining detained flotilla volunteers, full access for incoming ships, and a permanent end to Israel’s blockade and bombing of Gaza.
