Lesley-Ann Brandt Instagram – As hard as it was to live in, South Africans understood that it was necessary. It wasn’t personal. I remember simple things like shampoo being very expensive at one point. I also couldn’t get a passport and had never been outside my country until I immigrated as a teenager.
It ended because it was inconvenient, expensive, we were a pariah and because South Africans fought and the world stood with us, screaming, enough. It did not end because the South African government at the time or its allies, suddenly had a change of heart or moral clarity.
