Oh, my sweet Carrie. I’ve dreamed of this photoshoot for years 🥹 Carrie means so much to me. Stephen King is my favorite author of all time, and Carrie has always been among my favorites of his stories. Finally executing this concept with @_macarony was so strangely cathartic. Loving Carrie feels a bit like loving little me – fat, different, religiously traumatized and very much feeling like “they’re all gonna laugh at you” when I tried to be anything else.
In the moment of winning prom queen, Carrie finally, finally feels this sense of calm and acceptance in her chaotic life. I’ve always loved Sissy Spacek’s portrayal of the seconds before pigs blood is dumped on Carrie’s head. Smiling, in tears, so grateful and in such disbelief that those who tormented her now would accept her in this way. A fleeting moment of real happiness in her life… before it all comes crashing down.
