Michelle Stafford Instagram – Steal from the best, they say. I tried. I don’t think I ever was a success to be honest. She was a genius. That word is thrown around a lot these days. She was. A genius artist. I became a crazy huge fan of hers as a kid. These two scenes here are my favorites of anything she’s done. She told a story about Annie Hall on how she didn’t want to say “La Dee da”. She fought with Woody Allen about it. It’s a funny story. She ended up saying it of course. It was one of the most memorable lines in the movie. This scene is exquisite. She won the Oscar for Best Actress. This scene from The Godfather… she is perfection. Knowing it’s true, but not wanting to hear it’s true. So brilliant. It ends the movie for those of you who have never seen the Godfather (that would be a crime). It’s one of the best endings of a movie (IMO). In my very early career I had a meeting with her for an episode of China Beach that she was directing. I wanted it SO bad. In the meeting I was nervous and I told her so (as I had been such a crazy stalker fan). I mean, here I was sitting in front of my idol…acting… it was crazy. I told her I was nervous and loved her for so many years. She just looked at me and laughed. Like this was surprising. As if no one had ever said that to her. It was a laugh similar to the laugh here in Annie Hall… and why not, that role was written for her by Woody Allen. I didn’t get the job but got the experience of being in the same room as her, directing me in this audition. That was kinda good enough for me. Anyway… I guess you can tell I know all things Diane Keaton. A remarkable talent. She made me want to be an actress. A true original🤍 Go watch her films… specifically her films from the 70s and 80s. She is perfection in everything. | Posted on 12/Oct/2025 14:20:51
