A special evening at the 35th EMA awards @green4ema , honoring those who work tirelessly to champion this special place we are all lucky enough to call home. The things we often overlook until it’s too late, the interconnectedness of every species, and the compassion and courage needed to create change are spoken about with such passion, and more importantly…solutions. Here, in this room, there is so much hope. With the recent passing of Jane, all of this feels so potent, and the desire to continue her work is palpable. Rainn Wilson gave a speech that so perfectly captured the power of art as it relates to change, and I was once again reminded of how important it is to continue thinking outside the box when it comes to these critical conversations, with love and kindness leading the way. Thank you EMA for having me, and allowing me to present the award for best Documentary. And congratulations @yanunifilm on your win! (Ps sadly (but gladly) I was so present during this beautiful evening – I didn’t take a single photo while I was there! But grateful I got to wear this gorgeous 20 year old vintage @moniquelhuillier top, paired with a skirt from my closet I’ve worn for over a decade, and of course, @bayouwithlove jewelry made using recycled gold, styled by @lindseydupuis 🌿🌎🤍)

Morning chicken lovers! I get asked a lot about my coop (from @dare2dreamfarms !) so here’s a quick tour of my lovely ladies’ palace, and a few other fun tidbits to show you some of what I’ve learned along the way with chicken keeping. I have always loved the idea of having a dutch door on my coop for easy access- perfect for tossing in worms and snacks throughout the day- so my friends over at Dare2Dream made me the sweetest little farmhouse coop with the cutest Dutch doors. I continued to customize it myself using scrap wood from around the property and leftovers from some construction projects I’m working on, adding a shelf from plywood below their roosting poles for easy cleaning, and a little ramp for my minis leading up to the solar door. Speaking of solar doors, I ordered a @runchickendoor which took all of 5 minutes to install and was the best money spent, and @coopworx feeders for bulk food storage. That allows me to keep up to 10 days of food in there before having to refill. Quick tip: I also added bricks around the feeder and waterer so my minis are able to reach like the big girls do. I also use my @mill to make extra food for the girls from leftover kitchen scraps. Instead of composting the food, I turn it into clean, fresh feed that gets used right away. If I haven’t shared enough…I’m obsessed with my Mill! I still use organic feed, but I love knowing my ladies are also eating what we eat at mealtime. I then toss in a few fun goodies like red pepper flakes, alfalfa from the horses, and marigolds to boost yolk color and help keep parasites under control. And honestly, I can tell they’re thriving with this routine! What are some of your favorite tips for chicken keeping? Coop @dare2dreamfarms Solar door @runchickendoor Feeders @coopworx Kitchen waste solution @mill Ladies from @alchemistfarm Misting system from Amazon !

The heaviness I feel in my heart from the passing of my friend and hero, Dr Jane Goodall, is immense. She not only shaped the way I view the world, and my personal approach to activism, but also showed us the true power of kindness as a way to ignite change through unity. So much of advocacy can feel black or white, but Jane showed us the beauty of the grey. She was both fierce and fearless in her conviction, yet kind to those whose opinions differed, hoping connection would create compassion which would in turn awaken change. Over the years, I’ve done my best to model that approach, entirely inspired by her. Just Tuesday, I was looking at dates to visit her in Gombe, as she invited me to stay and see her work firsthand. I’ll forever regret not making it out there sooner. I’ve traveled to hear her speak, watched her documentaries, and read her books. She is and will always be my hero, as she is for so many who believe in a better world. I urge you, if you haven’t already, to explore her @rootsandshoots program and see the life-changing work she did with young people, shaping minds and hearts as we imagine what our future could look like. Beyond all else, I believe this is the legacy she would most want to live on. Lastly, Dr Jane Goodall often spoke about the interconnectedness of life. More than once, I was left with this beautiful visual of how we truly are all one. She painted a mural with her words, of forests, oceans, and animals, encouraging us to see it as a living tapestry. When one species goes, it’s like pulling a thread. There are only so many threads. We’re unraveling. But Dr Goodall gave us hope. Let’s promise to continue her work, as if the mission were ours all along. Over the years, I have shared many thoughts and reflections on the impact Dr. Jane Goodall has had on me, so I want to reshare something I wrote around 2019 that sums up the profound effect she had on me, and so many others. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and her work will live on… (Continued in comments) Photos from @janegoodallinst

A sweet and intimate evening talking women in ranching, conscious business and the intersection where fashion and regeneration collide with @rangerevolution , @bayouwithlove and @bethbehrs Cate is a true change-maker, designing with purpose, using innovation to create a whole new supply chain and quite literally regenerating her land along the way. Tangible change in all areas. Beth is and always has been an activist at heart, with her mission to uplift and support female founded brands built into her DNA and her desire to help and heal through animal advocacy front and center. These two gorgeous women are walking the walk, and I am in awe of all they are dreaming up together with their new boot collaboration, and grateful beyond measure for their friendship and partnership. As Cate so eloquently pointed out last night, we live in the world we create. It takes all of us coming together to see a shift. I am humbled to be a part of this incredible group of women, and to watch all of our individual work merge into one. All ships rise with the tide, and I have always made it a core part of my life and ethos to highlight the work that other women are doing in this space with the same (or more!) passion I feel for my own. Change comes as a result of unity, uplifting one another, compassion and the ability to see beyond what we are told is possible. Last night was the perfect example of this. Here’s to many more “last nights”, and a future where conscious business inspires conscious consumerism, which in turn continues to inspire this next generation of more conscious humans 🤍🌿🌎

In a world where everything surrounding health is a fad or a quick trend, can we reinforce the value of routine? Of consistency? Of quality? Of putting in the work without the short cuts? And dare I say…enjoying the process? I know we are all looking for a magic fix, but what if that fix is right in front of you. In your cup. Or under your feet. Maybe that fix is a 5 minute walk outside, or time with animals, or a weekend without a phone. What if the rest of it is just a distraction from what we truly need, which is basics, time outdoors, connection, nutrients…absorption. You can’t crash into wellness if you want to feel better. It’s a practice, a dance that you participate in, and a promise to yourself that you will show up and take ownership of your path, no matter how many times you have to begin again. Because true wellness isn’t a finish line, it’s a way of living, that sometimes we all have to learn over and over again…☕️🌿Ps did you know you can put Calm into warm water for a delicious cozy version and still get the same benefits?
