“Finding work that inspires you—what comes your way, what doesn’t come your way, that dictates so much of a career,” Byrne tells #Vogue. “I really truly think you have your good years and your bad years… I was having a winter where I really didn’t have any exciting work or opportunities. A creative slump.” A friend reminded her: Look how far you’ve come. “That is something I hold onto, because it is a long road. I’m not an overnight sensation.
