Vanessa Lachey Instagram – What a moment for me. Growing up I had a hard time embracing my roots. I was (at times) embarrassed to be Filipina. Kids can be mean and growing up, in an area where race was still discriminated, was tough. I did what I had to do to protect my self esteem and that was making myself smaller to fit in.
NOW, I am beyond proud and so are my kids! I applaud schools & places of learning who embrace the cultures that make us this beautiful, unique nation. Kids are able to be celebrated for their roots and their friends can learn about it in a loving environment! Inclusion matters! Representation matters! ❤️
Today all the Filipino-American kids at their elementary school dressed as someone who is infuential in our culture and we had a celebration that ended with singing (OF COURSE 😂) @brunomars “Count On Me”!
