Furlough’s Paradise was written by A.K. Payne (a Black woman) Directed by @tinashekajesebolden (a Black mama) and stars Kacie Rogers & @dewandawise (2 dynamo Black actresses) This show is gonna Rock 👏🏾 Us 👏🏾!! I can’t wait!!! You wanna be in the house!!
Let’s pull back the layers of my gratitude a little more, for this moment right here right now:
1) Its March. Women’s History Month
2) It’s Day 4 of Ready Set REST For Black Women & We are remembering Yolanda “Shiphrah” Kadima a devoted mother, birth worker, lactation consultant, and advocate for Black maternal and infant health, who, on July 27, 2020 passed away due to complications from a routine cesarean section. Birth Village exists so that this can stop happening!
3) Last year, I was on the stage here. This year, I get to cross my advocacy life with my theater life and partner with The Geffen Playhouse to raise some money for Black Mamas and Babies!!! My heart couldn’t be more full!!!
So let’s show up for the Women, the Mamas, the Queens. Cuz when we show up for them, we show up for the village.
